Celeborn

Celeborn (="Silvertree")
Elrond's father-in-law. An elf from Doriath. He was said to be very tall with long glimmering silver hair.
Celeborn was a conservative Sindar, who preferred living among woodelves rather than the 'overly civilized' Noldor. When Galdriel went through the Mines of Moria, Celeborn stayed in Eregion fighting against Sauron. He went with Elrond to Imladris where he finally met again with his wife.
Celeborn never carried a crown, but he was most probably related to king Oropher and king Amdír. Also he was the commander of the Silvan Elves in Lórien. In the War of the Ring he lead the Galdhrim to Dol Guldur to storm that tower of the enemy.
When Galadriel sailed into the West, her husband did not accompany her. This did not really come as a surprise, because he had always had arguments with his wife over certain aspects (though they shared adeep love). Instead, Celeborn went to live with his grandsons Elladan and Elrohir in Imladris. It's not said, when or where he ever saw his wife again.
