Erestor

Erestor (="Lonely brother" according to my elven dictionaries)
Erestor is Elrond's chief counsellor (therefore, it seems, Glorfindel's superior). When the fate of the One Ring was discussed in Imladris he suggested hiding it from Sauron and Saruman, especially seeking the help of Tom Bombadil to do so. He recognized the only alternative was to destroy it, but didn't think anybody had the strength to accomplish such feat.
Like so many other fans I think Erestor held not only a high position in Imladris, but might have been close to Elrond and his family on a private level, because for the wedding of Arwen with Elessar he and Glorfindel rode directly behind Elladan and Elrohir who led the party from Imladris into Minas Tirith.
